In response to a debate in the legislature over the value of land trusts, the Maine Land Trust Network surveyed the state's land trusts in the summer and fall of 2017. Highlights from the report show that land trusts benefit Maine by providing:
2350 miles of recreational trails
more than 2.34 million acres open to hunting
support of local businesses and economies through natural resource jobs and increased tourism opportunities
tax dollars
