Glassface Ledges

A short, moderately strenuous hike through lowland forest ending at a rocky outcrop with a spectacular view of the Androscoggin River valley.

How to get there

Parking for Glassface Ledges Trail is located at Hastings' Landing boat launch, on US-2, in Rumford Center, approximately 6 miles west of Rumford and 17 miles east of Bethel. Please do not park in the cemetery.

Notes on Topography, plants, and animals

The hike begins with a walk through a cemetery. The trail enters the mixed forest in the back corner on the right, and starts by climbing up a gentle slope on the mountain’s south side. You’ll cross many small brooks and rock hop in a mostly hardwood forest. The trail ends at an open ledge with spectacular views of the Androscoggin River valley about 1,290 feet above sea level

How this place became open to the public

Maureen Sheldon of Rumford donated 34-acres of land that includes the Glassface Ledges, to Mahoosuc Land Trust in December 2014.
